Comments:
I moved to Peoria in 2003. It was in about 2004 the entire traffic unit quit. The new rules and requlations for those in traffic would be for every hour of patrol, 1 citation needed to be issued, thereby creating a quota. I wrote and article in the paper and it was printed. The officers quit under protest that this new mandate took away their discreation in writting citations, warnings or just simply telling the person of the infraction. I am a retired law enforcement from Florida and moved back to Florida in 2009. There are no quotas regading tickets anywhere in Florida. There was a certain city in Pinellas County that tried to link the number of traffic tickets to the officers annual evaluation, but that got so much attention from the press, FOP & PBA, they changed the way they do business. Drive safe and don't expect a pass for going 10 over on the 101, as they dropped the cameras down to 7 over and did not tell anyone.
