Dekalb Avenue near Clifton Road
City of Atlanta Cops wait on the blind side of the car wash at corner of Dekalb Ave. and Clifton Rd. early in morning before massive amount of cars start pouring in for work rush around 7:30am. Before that time you’re blown off the street by whatever cars are on the road if you don’t go 20 to 30 mph over the posted 35 speed limit. Cops are waiting for early workers to zoom by or get caught in the sudden red light change which doesn’t make sense at 4 or 5 in the am.
That’s how I got caught. I couldn’t stop soon enough for the light. The young honcho must have been real happy to up his ticket quota and obviously was ending his long over night shift because he misspelled my name on the ticket. I made the mistake of pointing that out. He rewrote the ticket spelling my name correctly making it impossible for me to indicate to the traffic judge that this guy was half asleep when he stopped me. I’ve seen Atlanta cops stopping the unlucky few on this street on the weekend days, too, obviously gleefully, upping ticket quotas. One cop looked like he was within days of retirement.
After 7:30am until 9:30am and 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm on work days thousands of cars break the posted speed limit
along Dekalb Aveue from the outskits of Decatur until downtown Atlanta. Outside of those times and when you’re on Dekalb Ave. in Atlanta beware the Atlanta cop making his/her ticket quota.
