Driving on hwy 25 from the SC state line

Port Wentworth, GeorgiaMar 07, 20111 Comments

After you cross the drawbridge into Georgia, speed limit drops from 55 to 35, they hide on the curve by Weyerhaeuser Papermill. They sit tucked in next to the trees on the left….like most small towns its one of their biggest sources of revenue.

Comments:
I met the so called "officer" last weekend. This is a trap, 55-45-35 very quickly and there the revenue generator sits under the trees. The so called "officer's" behavior was out of line, he had to strut his stuff in front of my wife by trying to belittle me. I readily admitted to and apologized for going over the limit, did not deny it and was professional and courteous to him and thanked him for the ticket, I simply wanted the courtesy returned, the money is not the issue, the attitude was. I paid the fine online as soon as possible and have no plans to go through there again. I also pulled all business from any business/vendor with a Port Wentworth address and made it a point to tell them why. I know my 200-300 bucks per month is not a lot to the PWPD, but quite possibly means a lot to the businesses that no longer have my business, no more gas, meals, dry cleaning, hotels, nothing, all of my money will be spent on the South Carolina side of the river from here on. Any out of town workers we bring in we will lodge them in South Carolina and bring them in over the Talmadge Bridge and I16, completely bypassing this hole in the road. We used to put up workers 10-15 nights per month at the highway 21-I95 interchange, but not anymore. Maybe the loss of revenue to the businesses will get the owners to voice objections to the city council and put a stop to this place becoming the new Ludowici. If this keeps up the city of Port Wentworth will become a greasy spot in the road, and that would be an improvement over what it is now.
