East and West entrance

Cruiser sets up at both welcome signs just inside the 50km zone. You are coming out of a 70km zone when coming into town. It is easy to be doing 70 – 80 kms./hr.

Comments:
I passed through Dryden recently going west. As you leave the 50 zone, the highway descends a slight hill. The 70 sign is at the bottom a couple hundred feet ahead and clearly visible. I, naturally, began to speed up and was doing 72 when I saw the cruiser on the other side of the road*. The officer told me I couldn't do 70 until I got to the 70 sign. My Quebec car has no front plate letting the police know immediately that I am not local and will not return to fight this. Result - $95. ticket.... I doubt the locals get the same treatment as this is below the belt, would provoke much courtroom drama and expose the speed trap for what it is. *There is more to this story but no room here to get into some of the more subtle points of this highway robbery....
