Eastern Riverside Dr. Avenue near Kemper and Stanley Lane

Be careful coming eastbound out of downtown Cincinnati. Last week, I saw two Ohio State Highway Patrol cars patrolling for speeders, tailgaters, and drunk drivers along Eastern Ave (Riverside Dr.) between Kemper Lane and Stanley Ave. They use both X and K band radar while moving, and Laser (Lidar) when they are stationary. Watch for them sitting on one of the side streets running laser on cars travelling eastbound. They are sneaky. What happened to Cincinnati Police patrolling the streets? I guess they are too shorthanded to worry about traffic/speeding issues, so they had to call OSHP for help. There are probably to many murders, robberies, and shootings for them to investigate, therefore traffic crimes are handed over to OSHP!

Comments:
Riverside Drive in the East End neighborhood is a State Route and as such the Ohio State Patrol, along with the Cincinnati Police Department, has jurisdiction. A recent traffic study found that an overwhelming number of vehicles travel at 46 miles per hour. The posted speed limits are 35 mph and 25 mph past the Rec Center and around some of the bends in the road. It is not a speed trap as the speed limits are posted well in advance of the section of the road as listed and the patrol cars do not hide on side streets. Perhaps the poster of this speed trap, casting warrant-less aspersions on the City of Cincinnati and its Police Department, is tasting those old sour grapes.
