ENTIRE length of Sawdust Ave in Binnewater

With the Rt 213 Detour using Binnewater Rd, Sawdust Ave and Cottekill Rd as a bypass, Rosendale PD, Ulster County Sheriff and NYS Police are all getting into the act. They even have the "Your Speed" display set up to give you a heads up

Comments:
Rosendale police are notorious for pulling over vehicles. Its a sleepy little village with a police budget far too high for its crime level/population. I believe their main job is revenue collectors. My commute takes me through this area and now that I am working nights it seems I get stopped once a week because I am on the road during driving home drunk hours, presumably they are trying to find drunk drivers? Just last week a Rosendale cop turned around, I assumed to pursue me, so I had just passed a pull-off area where it would be safe for him to get out of his car off the road and out of traffic, so I backed down the road 20 feet. He gave me a ticket for unsafe backing, even though I specifically told him I was backing up with his safety in mind. Half of my family are cops around this area and they all cannot believe the way this police officer acted. I always try to get to a safe area and pull as far off the road as I can so that policemen are not in any more danger than they face everyday serving civilians. I do this and of course hope others do the same for any of my family members that pull them over just trying to do their job. I stopped in my lane, put my blinker on, and checked my mirrors and was looking behind me while I was backing up. There were no other vehicles on the road that I would have placed in danger. It was only myself and the officer coming up behind me. I was extremely polite and courteous, after all, they are just at work like any of us. He decided to "give me a break" on my NYS registration that was not FULLY attached to the window because of the cheap materials NYS DMV uses for their stickers. So instead of giving me a ticket for that, he gave me a moving violation with points on my license. Avoid Rosendale at all costs. I think I am going to start driving the extra 15 minutes on my way to work to avoid this area all together.
