Entirety of the historic district

Pinehurst, North CarolinaMar 15, 20103 Comments

Pinehurst policemen lurk throughout. And another thing: if you plan on having more than one drink with dinner in Pinehurst and getting behind the wheel afterward, you might want to practice getting into the back seat of a sedan with your arms behind your back and your wrists close together.

Comments:
The issue of drinking drivers is serious and should be enforced, however it has been documented that Pinehurst police use questionable methods of stopping drivers. Some reliable citizens have said they were stopped and when they asked the officer why, the response was "because your were observed driving erractically. In several known cases the driver and passenger were certain that was not the case but only an excuse for the stop. Is that possibly an illegal stop?

My favorite experience (and believe me, there were many candidates) was when my wife and I were on the traffic circle at about 10:30 on a Saturday night, preparing to exit onto Midland Road toward Pinehurst. A Pinehurst policeman was in the paved area of the median that one would use if he/she were turning left into Fairwoods on 7. As we exited the circle, he slowly moved out into Midland Road, apparently to test our reaction time in having to swerve out of his way. He then tailgated us until we turned into our driveway.

If you are drinking and driving you ought to be arrested. I have no sympathy for you. I hope you go to jail and pay thousands in extra insurance premiums and attorney fees. Stop whining.
