Exit 71 Glebe Road off of I-66 westbound
Arlington and Virginia State Police park at the end of the ramp, on the left side, behind trees/shrubs. I see them frequently during the evening rush hour, although they could be there at other times as well. They must be citing drivers for excess speed on the exit ramp. It’s a long, straight, uphill ramp and it is easy to maintain a good percentage of the exiting highway speed, and I see a lot of cars pulled over by the police.

This makes no sense. The ramp is only about 100 ft max and terminates at Glebe Rd. The ramp is perpendicular to Glebe where you either have to make a right or a left at the end (where there is also a traffic light, by the way) --- hardly ideal conditions for a speed trap. What makes more sense, since you see them at rush hour, is that the VA police are there citing HOV violators who are getting off 66, just like they do at the Rt 7/Tysons exit off of 66. This is definitely NOT a speed trap.
The ramp is between 900 and 1000 feet long. You can easily do 55 until the last 100 feet at Glebe.
This is not a speed trap, it is an HOV trap. I-66 West inside I-495 is HOV-only during the evening rush hours. The fines for violating HOV are extremely high and Virginia State Police enforce aggressively. They are standing on the exist ramp to see if there is more than one person in the car. If not, you're going to get a ticket for violating HOV.
