The speed limit is 35, the tribal police will be there near the gas station. There is plenty of gas in town, no point in going there just to get gas and you can bypass by going over the hill to lund.

I was finishing up a trip of 3000 miles in a camper van and approaching Ely on 93 for gas. Having passed through 100 small towns in 5 western states I automatically began to slow as a approached what anyone would have considered town but it was too late.. Tribal police pulled me for their 35 zone (on a federal highway?). It was obvious that it was a trap, but chatting up the officer, who informed me he was Mexican descent and knew nothing about tribal politics. But he told me the tribal chairman used to be the Sheriff in Ely. Does sound like a conspiracy designed to enhance municipal leadership salaries to you?
