Fair Street off Rte 9D– 30 MPH to 15 MPH

Cold Spring, New YorkNov 22, 20101 Comments

30 MPH sign is outside of town, on Rte 9D where Speed Limit 40 MPH); 30 MPH applies inside town after Y turn-off to Fair Street. There are 14 signs (restaurants, etc.) on the Left and 2 more signs at right. Cop sits in bushes right side of Fair Street w/radar. Also speed traps on Rte 9D–main N-S road in Hudson Valley. Best advice, avoid Cold Spring–do not shop there, do not eat there, do not buy gas there, do not stay in its inns or attend its churches or fairs–the Mayor and shopkeeprs are aware of town’s reputation–less business will bring more pressure to spend town time and money getting better signage.

Comments:
I have lived in the area for 17 years...there does not seem to be a reason for anyone to avoid this quaint town. The signs are clearly posted and like any other small town, the speed is lowered as you enter the busy section where people walk along the sidewalks and cross the street. Many seniors live on this main corridor as well as the local school situated just north of this area. Very unfair for a comment like one above to be posted, suggesting people to avoid visiting, shopping, eating or purchasing gas!
