FLORIDA TURNPIKE N/S

Yeehaw Junction, FloridaApr 15, 20031 Comments

The Turnpike is worth the fare if your in a hurry and FHP seems to lay off since they know the drivers are paying to use it….but from YEEHAW north for 20-40 miles, there is construction and narrow shouldlers. FHP loves to hide in the chaos, especially in the medians, in between the cement dividers. Watch Double fines, and bad weather and keep the detectors on….I’ll give FHP credit, there have been some terrible wrecks on this stretch of the TRNPK in recent years…and other than this area on the TRNPK, they let you do 90mph. But, in this area go under the limit, even if it is posted at 55 mph in the work zone!

Comments:
Who ever posted this, thank you. I'm a Trooper with FHP and work this area. We've had several fatals from MM 190 to the 230 (My Zone Assignment). I can tell you that this IS NOT a speed trap. My zone partners and I give motorists usually 15-20 MPH before we stop them unless it's raining. I'd also rather write a ticket for no proof of insurance, faulty equipment, no registration or something like that and give a warning for the speed. This is because the speeding fines in my opinion, are outrageous throughout the State of Florida! Plus, with the tickets I write, you show the clerk of court the proof of insurance or registration and the ticket get's dismissed. However, anything 20 MPH over the speed limit, you're getting a ticket. I think I'm more than fair. As long as you're not 20 over the speed limit and not driving aggressive, you won't see me in your mirrors. Be Safe!
