FM 1015 near US Highway 281

Progreso, TexasJul 03, 20060 Comments

The last half mile before you get to US Hwy 281 over by where the police station is located (police station is not announced and is a very small unnoticable building) there is usually a police car parked on a side street behind a big tree. The thing about this is that the road goes very quickly from being 50 mph to 30 mph and there is no reduced speed ahead sign only a 30 mph sign that is easy to miss. When I was stopped I really don’t think I was going over 30 mph but the officer said he noticed me going above the speed limit when I passed a little white car which I never saw and he said the car was in the left lane and I was in the right lane (slow lane) and then he followed me (he said but I never saw him until the lights came on all of a sudden) for a 1/4 mile and that I was doing @ 40 mph. Suffice it to say that I would have fought this ticket if I had had the time to return but I didn’t so they fined me $153 plus $25 to not have it show on my driving record. FM 1015 is the road that leads to Mexico and I think they know many of us will not return to fight the ticket so they take advantage of the situation. Be careful when driving through Progreso, Texas.
