FM 1069 near Highland Avenue

Aransas Pass, TexasApr 30, 20081 Comments

The 1/4 mile section on 1069 near Highland ave. has two different speed limits depending on which way you are traveling. This is strange because it is a two lane undivided road. The northbound lane speed limit is 55mph and the southbound lane speed limit is 45mph. The Trooper sits or travels northbound to clock cars traveling southbound in the slower lane. There are signs listing the correct speed limit but you must pay attention because if you just travelled north you were allowed to go 55mph and when you are heading back south on the same road the limit is 45mph. I was with my 9mo pregnant wife when she recieved a citation in this area. On the court date there were 3 other people that received tickets in the same exact area on the same day.

Comments:
I drive this route on an almost daily basis, the reason the speed limits are different going north and south is that the dividing line between Ingleside and Aransas Pass runs down the middle of the road. Ingleside says it ok to go 55 while Aransas Pass set their side of the road at 45 which creates a lot of problems.
