FM 1886 near State Highway 199

Lakeside, TexasMar 24, 20083 Comments

Lakeside area on 1886 (Confederate Park) is heavily monitored from the stop signs at the four-way where it intersects with 199 (Jacksboro Hwy) all the way to the Citgo past winery.

Comments:
I am GLAD the Lakeside police are doing such a great job! I live in the area and have been run off the road by speeders more than once. There have also been people and deer killed by speeders in that area. Just slow down and respect the peaceful neighborhood and you will not get a ticket!

It is difficult to see the speed limit signs due to lack of lights along the road (it's very dark). There's also usually a big truck or someone behind tailgating you with their lights nearly blinding you. Compounded by the fact that the construction zone has speed limit signs posted but at 30 then immediately after you see the regular white speed limit sign that says 40 and then 55. Can you we please make up our minds on the speed limit or cover one of the signs up? Compounded by the fact that there are lots of raccoons and deer that dart across the narrow road you are having to literally looked left and right constantly so it's easy to miss a speed limit sign let alone police officers lurking 2 inches to the side of the road at bottom of the hills. I swear it's ridiculous. I get pulled over coasting down a hill with no one around. 2nd ticket of my entire life. 2 minutes later I'm going UNDER the speed limit, still vigilantly looking but it just wasn't enough, a huge raccoon comes out from the left side of the road and bam, roadkill and more bills to pay. I really hate this road and the police know the speed limits and conditions are not in the driver's favor. The fact that they capitalize on it makes me a little sick.

Set your cruise to 45. Don't be a jerk. You will be fine. Do this from Jacksboro (199) all the way to the Parker County line. I moved here about 3 years ago and have seen as many a 3 Lakeside and Tarrant County cars all working the same stretch of road. It has always been 45 through "town". Speed used to be 60 from Silver Creek Rd to the county line, but the speed was reduced over a year ago to 45 the full length because of a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of 1886 and Silver Creek Azle Rd. Limits are posted. They are out always on Fridays, and then on random days. Be careful on the feeder road coming off of 199, I have seen them there as well. Be careful on this road, especially after it enters Parker county. Road construction scheduled to be completed end of 2015. Road not too wide, dark, poor markings and lines, and lots of big trucks as well as pickups.
