Forest Street near Washington Booker T Elementary School

Dover, DelawareOct 24, 20072 Comments

Patrolman is posted in the split of Rt.8 and Forest St underneath the tree and behind the bushes, very hard to see them.

Comments:
Why do you have to see a cop to slow down. The posted speed limit is 25mph. It is no like it goes from 55mph down to 25mph. When you near Dover on Forrest Ave the speed limit drops to 35mph, then 25 mph. Students from both Booker T. Washington Elementary and William Henry Middle school use the crosswalk at the light. Just slow down! If you are in that much of a hurry, you should have left earlier anyway. Regardless if you agree with the posted speed limit or not, that IS the limit and you ARE breaking the law. Speeding is not a game that you play with the police. When you get pulled over for speeding do you think to yourself "Oh well, I got caught this round. But it was not my fault, I did not see the cop." It was your fault.....you were speeding and putting lives in danger.

This section of Forest St. is 5 lanes wide with a shoulder and a controlled crossing light with a crossing guard for the children. Additionally, the school is entirely fenced in. Any speed limit under 30 mph, even with children present, is unreasonable. This is a transition section of the road going outbound from 25 to 40.
