For 6 miles on U.S. Highway 81 as you head north out of Union city, there are road construction signs and the speed limit is 45 mph. You will notice that there is actually no road construction at all. This is just a method used to double the price of the speeding tickets. Once you leave the deceptively large jurisdiction of Union City, approximately 6 miles north of town, the speed limit immediately changes to 70 mph.

The new highway is completely done now north of town. The only thing is that coming into town from the north it drops down from 70 to 55 fast!!
