Georgia State Line to near Anniston

Anniston, AlabamaOct 01, 20102 Comments

First, road signs say highway under construction. They have been that way 2 times in last 6 months and have yet to see any sign of construction. No dirt being moved, no construction equipment. I have seen numerous law enforcement vehicles on both the east and west bound sides. Road appears to be in good shape so, based on my police background, the speed limit was dropped to 55 in order to generate revenue. Maybe they are going to use that to “fix” the roads. NOT!

Comments:
Beyond any shadow of doubt, this is one of the worse speed traps in Alabama. The State claim that there are a lot of accidents on this section of interstate; therefore claiming the road is unsafe. This section of highway has been much better than any of the other parts of I-20 between Birmingham and Anniston (that have been or being improved). I have traveled this road often and, from a personal view, have seen many more accidents on other parts of I-20. Having worked in highway construction, I can certify there is nothing dangerous about this road unless there are slick spots when wet. However, traffic is being stopped when the road is dry. I wish someone would bring this up in court. Any sensible jury would find what I have just stated. There is no doubt in my mind that the State has decided to make this stretch of road a money-making project. No doubt at all. If anyone thinks what I have written is not true, I invite anyone to drive the road and the rest of I-20 and come back and tell me I am wrong.

The state has turned this stretch from Oxford, Al to the Ga. line into a trap but the reason the speed limit was lowered last year was because they're too cheap to fix this bumpy pot-holed road that poses for an Interstate and a woman was killed by a chunk of asphalt kicked up by a truck. Instead of FIXING the road they "repair" it and lower the limit and hose people with huge fines. Classic case of morons in charge.
