Greater Moncton Road

I am a Police Officer with the Traffic Section here with the RCMP. I am glad to be able to write in this page to tell you where we hide or where we get more speedign tickets. Traffic circle in Dieppe (110 km/hrs turn to 60 km/hrs). Since a man got killed on the circle we do radar there to save lifes. However my tolerence is 30 km/hrs. If you are doing 95 km/hrs in this 60 km/hrs zone, you will get a ticket. Very reasonable. Mclaughlin Dr is also a big speed problem. Folk for me to give a ticket there you have to do at least 86 km/hrs in this 60 km/hrs zone. The following places are also major problem and if you are doing 76 km/hrs and more in these 50 km/hrs you will get a ticket:Champlain st, Amirault st, Pascal st, Thomas st, Melanson Rd, Chartersville Rd. Morton Ave, Killam Dr, Gorge Rd, Ryan Rd, Coverdale Rd, White pine Rd, Trites, Rd, Mountain Rd, Front Mountain Rd, Wheeler Blvd. These are where we get more tickets. I am not afrait to tell you this because our goal is not to have tickets but our goal is that you drive safely and that we will not have to go see your family looking at our feet with a message of death. Seat belt is a zero tolerence policy and please stop at stop sign and red light.

I don't understand why people get so angry when they get caught for speeding or think they are speed traps. If you weren't going over the speed limit then there wouldn't be a problem. I think it would be better for cops to actually stay out in the open then maybe drivers wouldn't speed at all. It is nice for some cops to tell you where they are sitting, waiting for you, but in reality if drivers didn't speed there would be no need for "speed traps" as people call them. There are rules to follow and they are there for a reason. If you lost someone because of speed or someone not completely coming to a stop at a stop sign you would think these "speed traps" were wonderful.

I just moved to Moncton, New Brunswick and I have driven around that Traffic circle in Dieppe maybe 5 times and I have not yet seen the speed limit sign that says 60 perhaps it is a trap? Parking before the traffic circle with your MARKED police car will cause better safety compliance. But the sign must be clear and visible. By the way for a fellow from Ontario those traffic circles are pretty crazy as it is without random speed changes.

I guess some people are lemmings and truly believe that all government rules have a good reason. Most traffice speed limits are set willy nilly and not based on need(exception might be school zones). It is a fact that drivers will travel what is a safe speed with the exception of 5-10%. So if 80-90% are going over the speed limit the fault is the speed limit. Politics is involved also, a politician lives on a certain street and its limit may change. In Nova Scotia the Wentworth valley used to be mostly 90-100 kph for decades--the Cobequid Toll road opened and immediately the speed limits in the Wentworth valley dropped 20-30kph. Why?? to encouraage people to use the faster toll road!!!!!
