heading north bound on us 49

I could not believe it going down the road with my wife in a new truck I bought in Florida heading home to Las Vegas. The police car going south behind a little truck pass by me going the other direction. 3 min later he pulls me over and says I was speeding. Clock me going 59 in a 55 which I thought the road was 60 mph. Then here’s the good part, Then he says “after you went by me I could see you speed back up to 67 mph.” So he wrote me the ticket for 67 which was 8 miles an hour than I was going. Just enough for them to get you for 3 miles over the cheaper fine. I know for a fact that I was only doing 58 or 59. Yes, I was going over the posted speed limit but I also was not a threat of hurting my self or anyone else on that stretch of road at 9 am in the morning and good weather conditions. 3 mph is equivalent to speedo error in my book?? So now home paying a $195.50 dollar fine and typing a letter hoping not to have this on my record. All I can say is don’t do any business there and keep off hwy 49 anywhere by Opelousas. Has anyone ever heard of a cop car shooting radar forward and backwards at the same time? I have’nt.

Comments:
On US 49 Northbound just before exit 23, the speed is posted as 70MPH. The opposite side of the road, US 49 Southbound, is posted as 75MPH. There is nothing different between the two directions to justify the lowered speed for the three miles in the Northbound lanes. In a nutshell it's a speed trap. I was ticked there in October 2015. If you were ticked there, I would love to hear from you. (SLG (at) cogtv (dot) org).
