Heart lake Road near Escarpment Sideroad

Caledon, OntarioOct 23, 20072 Comments

Unmarked police car (Chevy) sitting in a private driveway. Handheld radar. Local officer from Caledon East. Usually watching southbound traffic. Chases alleged speeders and turns police lights only when he catches up to them.

Recommendation: Acknowledge the officer and signal your intention to stop, but do not pull over. This section of Heart Lake Road is uninhabited and surrounded by forest and the cop is driving an unmarked car. You have the right to pull over in a well lit spot where there are cameras and people to help you out in case he’s a criminal posing as a cop. Continue on heart Lake road all the way to the Esso gas station at it’s South end.

Comments:
Yes he hides in a farmers lane on the westside, black unmarked car. His radar has many obstructions of trees and can cause faulty readings. We showed the picture of the lane in court and he denied it was the lane he was in but it was. Very unfair and wasted a lot of our time going to court

The down side to the information given can get you in trouble and face charges. A police car, when Identified, who signals you to pull over does not give you the right to acknowledge his presence and you continue til you feel it's right to do so. You are legally OBLIGED to pull over to the right, safely when requested or followed by a police car with it's emergency signals going. It would take an idiot Police Officer, to fault you for what you may have felt is correct, but you MUST obey the officer and pull over. If you have a cell phone and have doubts, immediately dial 911 and advise the emergency operator.. The person who gave the information, and I quote "You have the right to pull over in a well lit spot where there are cameras and people , etc" is wrong. You do not have the right, you are compelled by law to obey the officer ( duty bound by law). In their continuing comment about maybe it's a criminal posing as an officer, then you wouldn't have acknowledged them and indicated you'll stop, and definitely drive safely to the nearest police station or public area with people. But if it is an officer, PULL OVER. Cell phones are literally a dime a dozen and every vehicle should have an emergency phone in it. Utalize it and call 911 when you are afraid of anything that may be criminal intent.
