Highway 118 & Front Street; in Carbon Hill
First, let me mention that this is a four-lane STATE HIGHWAY, not a two-lane street, and is also the main route from Carbon Hill to the cities of Winfield and Fayette. The speed limit goes down from 55 to 35 as you pass the welcome sign, and the CHPD always stays perched somewhere on the side of the highway to catch out-of-staters that don’t realize the speed limit changes so fast. I can understand 45 due to being in the city limits, but 35 is ridiculous and serves no purpose on a four-lane highway other than being a speed trap.
