Highway 281

Hico, TexasSep 02, 20092 Comments

Driving into Hico going N on 281 there is a hill and a curve. People coming in from hwy speed of 70mph suddenly encounter a 45mph speed limit sign. Radar is set to record speed just as you enter the 45 mph zone. The curve blocks your view of the speed limit sign.

Yes. It happens just as posted here. Entering town @ 9:45p on a Saturday, the officer was following vehicles southbound. His lights went on before other vehicles were out of sight. He was not stationary. There was not posting on the route which adhered to requirements of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Speed Limits should be reduced @ 15 mph intervals with at least 2/10 of a mile interval for each speed. It is recommended that a yellow diamond background with speed ahead & black arrow forwarn the 1st speed reduction. Before I could leave town, the officer had other car pulled over @ north end of town.
