Highway 51, Old Highway 51, Kenwood Avenue and Woodlawn Ave.

The Brighton Police are very desperate for speeding tickets because the Brighton Police Chief gives each officer a quota of at least two tickets a day. This is coming from a former Brighton Police Officer who quit the department because he got tired of having to meet a ticket writing quota ‘which is supposed to be illegal in the State of Tennessee’. The Brighton Police hide between the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 51 where you can’t see them until its too late. Usually they hide on Highway 51 by the county landfill near the south city limits or by the BCI buildings near the north city limits. They hide on Kenwood Avenue near Tipton Street and on Woodlawn Avenue near the other end of Tipton Street. They also hide on Old Highway 51 near the Church of Christ and near the Brighton Elementary School. The officers get in trouble if they don’t write at least two tickets a day. They have to write you a ticket even if they don’t want to just so they can meet the Chiefs quota. Police Departments are supposed to base their operating budgets from pre-existing money from the town, not from ticket revenue. Brighton is so sad!! 01-16-2017
