Highway 70, near Lambert Airport

Edmundson, MissouriJan 01, 20023 Comments

Edmundson is known for their traffic violation revenues. They pull citizens over for the least little violation. Since construction on Highway 70 has began, Edmundson police are radaring people for going over forty-five miles per hour in a construction zone at all hours of the late night and early morning. It is obvious there is no construction going on, but this is their way of giving expensive tickets to people who are in any normal police officer’s eyes, driving normal. Be careful. I travel this way daily and will see some poor soul pulled over almost every time.

This is a 2002 comment. Pretty old. Construction on I-70 in front of Lambert Airport was completed long ago.

I can attest to this trap. Edmundson has some of the most unethical shenanigans on their few feet of highway jurisdiction of any community that I have ever witnessed. Conveniently, I was told I was going one mph over their allowed speeding window, although I imagine my out of state plates had more to do with that, than anything. I was issued a double fine for the apparent travel safe zone and when I returned later that day to get photographic evidence of the scene, I witnessed the same officer pull over five more people in a 20 minute window. Quota time... get them in, get them out. Seriously questionable ethics in these parts

I joined the huge group of victims two days ago, in 'midst of a 2,000 mile ride home to Phila. on my bike. After receiving the $300 ticket I saw a handful of victims pulled over dangerously on the shoulder. Definitely a case of highway robbery that's been going on too long--see: www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/st-louis-county-cities-tag-speeders-with-heavy-fines-on/article_352c3f26-2208-11e0-abb3-00127992bc8b.html What a revenue-generation machine; the citation even includes an online payment option, www.edmundsontix.com Can't remember the last time I received a moving violation; has to be over ten years ago!
