Highway U.S. 231 Tippecanoe County
Throughout the "new" two-lane extension of U.S. 231 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana State Police set up speed traps. Their favorite spots are stop sign intersections with county roads. They will sit about 100 yards off the highway, on the county road, hidden by the earthen embankments, ready to pull over anyone going over 60 with the posted speed limit being 55. The county sheriff deputies like to sit under the railroad bridges one mile north of the intersection of U.S. 231 and State Road 25. As you approach them they are facing you on the right. It is hard to see them, because of the curve and hill.
