Hina Kai Boulevard near State Route Hawaii Belt Road
at the start Hia Kai leading uphill from the hawaii belt Road, there is a 30 mph speed limit for approximately 2 blocks. If training onto Hinba Kai from the Kona airport you will miss the first sign. The second sign is located 25′ off the driving lane. Street light are poor quality sodium vapor, and four are out in the stretch including three surrounding the sign. Cop is waiting with faulty radar gun.

Individual posting not familiar with sodium vapor lights... they are among the very brightest lights available. Secondly, where does he/she get their info on "faulty" radar gun? Radar guns are calibrated and tested during each shift to assure accuracy. The officer must be able to testify in court that they tested the unit prior to beginning use on each shift.
I believe the first commentator is talking about Hina Lani street. If you leave Kona Airport (on the Queen K highway) and turn left on Hina Lani the speed decreases at the top. There is only one warning near the top. It's even worse if you're going down Hina Lani. As you turn down Hina Lani from Mamalahoa (the upper highway), there is a 18% to 20% grade and no warning that the speed limit has decreased. Of course your vehicle naturally picks up speed, you assume it's 35MPH, but it's 25mph (for a very short strecth) and the cops hang out there every month and give out tickets to every sap who fails to immediately brake as they go down that hill. Yes, Hina Lani is a well-known speed trap.
