Hiway 231/431, 1 mile north of Alabama state line

Fayetteville, TennesseeJan 24, 20034 Comments

Numerous complaints from persons working in AL and driving back to TN each day. Speed limit drops from 65MPH to 55MPH in open rural area on 4 lane highway. $165 for 10 mph over limit. No warnings. Appears to be an extortative method to make up tax short falls. Completely unrealistic and contributes nothing to vehicle safety.

Comments:
i happen to live a couple of miles north of the alabama line on this same road. the speed limit isnt 65 anywhere on that road at all. its 55 from the piggly wiggly straight to the state line.

The speed limit is 65 mph in Alabama and drops to 55mph at the state line. TN State Troopers absolutely sit at here and wait for cars that haven't slowed down. I know several people that have gotten tickets at this very spot.

The speed limit from Park City to the Ala state line is 55. In Alabama it rises to 60. The speed limit in Alabama is NOT 65 it is 60. I've lived here for 13 years and have never had a problem here. I travel it many times a week and have maybe seen a trooper with radar 1 time in the last 6 months.
