Hurlburt Field Road

Fort Walton Beach, FloridaFeb 22, 20112 Comments

This is a four lane roadway posted as 25 MPH with part of it posted as 35 MPH. Roadway is less than a mile in length between Martin Luther King Blvd and Beal Parkway. Both of which are of the same number of lanes and posted as 45 MPH. This is a main traffic route and deputies are consistently using radar to give out speeding tickets. Similar 4 lane roadways with streets leading to residential homes and/or a few residential homes are posted as 35 MPH. This roadway is a mixture of business and residential zones.

Comments:
This part of the road used to be 45 when it was two lanes with no sidewalk and many pedestrians. Since they made it four lanes, with a median and separated raised sidewalk, they lowered the speed limit and I very seldom see any pedestrians.

There's no cameras, here, just a very low speed limit for a 4-lane undivided road. Until August 2012, this was signed at 25mph. It is now 35mph. Most people were driving 40mph when it was signed at 25. Now that it is 35, 40 still seems to be the maximum most are naturally comfortable with.
