Leaving Lompoc, going South on Hwy 1, on the last long, steep hill before entry onto 101, or going North up the hill toward Lompoc, watch your speed in either direction. It is easy to gain speed as you head down the incline; Speed limit is 55 MPH. CHP have become devout in their attempts to catch speeders. They frequently park in private driveways and roadways, lying in wait for speeders. This is also true at various other locations along Hwy 1, south of Lompoc.
