Hwy 108 Between Knights Ferry & Jamestown

Jamestown, CaliforniaJul 01, 20011 Comments

1 or 2 CHP units hides at various spots along the East and or West bound 4 lane section of Highway 108 between Knights Ferry and Jamesown. There is a short section East bound at the turnoff to Yosimite (Yosimite Juntion) that is uphill and has a passing lane, once over the top and travelling down hill they are in a small turnout backed up against the hill waiting for the impatient. Note; the speed limit is 65mph from just After Knights Ferry to O’Byrnes Ferry Road approx 13 miles both East and West. The short section with the passing lane is 1/2 mile East of O’Byrnes Ferry Road, the speed limit is 55 mph and VERY STRICTLY Enforced. People get frustrated because there is alot of "vacationers" with slow moving vehicles, this highway is heavily travelled Friday to Sunday all year.

Comments:
Yes there is almost always a cop backed up under a tree where described, BUT, it is not 65 all the way to O'Byrnne's Ferry Road, it drops to 55 mph at Green Springs Road, just before the J-59 turn off.
