Sparta Mo police like to illegally ” hide” in private driveway or lane just north of the speed limit change sign… From the Green County/Christian County line south to about a mile or two out of Sparta proper, the speed limit abruptly changes with no warning from 55mph to 35 mph. This change in speed is out in the country some distance from the town itself and seems to be designed to catch people unfamiliar with that town/road. To suddenly change from 55 to 35 requires you to “stand” on the brakes pretty hard… and often nets the City of Sparta a nice free $90.00 cause you just got busted going 20 miles over the speed limit with no idea the limit changed till you were right on top of the 35 mph sign. When you get to the edge of town.. it drops to 25 and everyone thats from around here knows that.
