Hwy 17 Trask Prkway and Castle Hall Rd Yemassee SC

My wife and I were returning from a stay with friends in Cherry Grove SC. We decided to travel Hwy 17 S as far as we could to enjoy the scenery and avoid I-95 as much as possible. It’s a 10 hour drive back to Florida and we are both retired and were in no hurry at all. Hwy 17 is 4 lanes divided and had light traffic at the time. The speed limit varied from 55 to 65 in most places. I used GPS to monitor the speed limit. As I rounded a slight curve I observed 2 new Dodge police cars facing N. One turned on his lights and I pulled to the shoulder just south of thee cross over where they were stationed. My GPS was showing a speed limit of 60 and the Yemassee police officer advised me I was going 63 in a 50 mph zone. I pointed out the speed limit that was showing and he said that did not matter. He wrote the ticket for 13 over costing $134 and would not answer my question as to where the step down was in speed as you approach the curve. Both cars fell in behind my vehicle and each had two officers in each vehicle. Yemassee has 1009 citizens and is not view-able from highway 17. This curve at this location is obviously used as a revenue generator for the local government officials.
