Hwy 19 by the welcome to hurley sign

Hurley, South DakotaSep 23, 20033 Comments

The cops sit there all the time just waiting for someone to go over the speed limit (changes from 65 mph to 50 mph infront of town). They are relentless they will stop you for going 53 mph.

Comments:
I was born and rasied in Hurley and still have family living there. Since when did Huley have more than on police officer with a small town of only 300 people-- if that. They do not even have a grocery store. They have 1. Bank 2. post office 3. bar 4. funeral home 5. and maybe a small resturant if that.... Hurley, from what I heard, does not have enough money to pay of a police office yet alone a fire dept. as the young man who was mayor there along with some one else "stole"" what ever money that Hurley had......

Oh contraire' Hurleyite. Speed trap services are contractually provided by the Turner County Sherrif from nearby Parker. In fact they do this in most small Turner County towns (Davis, Marion, Monroe etc.) They are there often because Hurley is close to the flagpole, so the Sherrif doesn't have to get to far from home. They will write you for 5 over (personal experience) expecially later in the evening when you become Deputy whomever's entertainment because there are about six cars an hour on Highway 19 at that time. 5 over - $71.00 Gotta love it.
