Hwy 22 from Salem to Mehama

Salem, OregonJul 15, 20022 Comments

This stretch of highway is posted 55 mph but high quality surface and comparatively long, straight stretches tempt you to higher speeds—which is exactly what the state police would love you to do. Under the pretense of keeping the roads safe, they love to nail you and pick up ther poound of flesh. Beware! This hwy is heavily patrolled.

Comments:
Most officers in Oregon will give you 10 MPH over the limit, but they do not have to. When I was with the Sheriff in that county [Marion} the Justice of the Peace where we cited into from that area had a rule that he did NOT want to see a cite from Hiway 22 for less than 75 MPH. Sadly you could go out there and write a book of 25 tickets in 3 hours with every one being over 75 when the posted speed is 55..... 95+ is not unusual on this road!

You might be selling that, but I'm not buying it. Most Oregon cops present day will get you for anything thats 5 over (with the exception of the Interstates), some if they are grumpy will write tickets for less than 5, I've seen it with my own eyes. There is no such thing as a warning for even 5 over anymore, as the revenue is more important than the safety
