Hwy.34 Bypass
4-lane divided highway around the town gets through traffic from both Hwy. 67 and Hwy. 34, speed limit drop from 65 to 50 mph. They like to sit in the dark (especially late night) with radar. Traffic is usually very light late at night and it’s easy to get nailed.

This stretch of the bypass highway is a particular favorite of the local police to generate speeding tickets because of the way the speed limit drops from 65 to 50 MPH. At the place the speed limit drops, the two-lane road opens up to a 4 lane divided highway, heading around the north side of town. If you want to bypass the town with its artificially low 25 MPH speed limit (and not stop and spend some money in the town's stores) they try to take your money with a tricked speeding ticket.
The speed limit sign at the point where the limit drops is also frequently obscured by an orange State Highway dump truck sitting alongside of the road.
This trap has been around for many years; I got ticketed once back in the late 1980's for driving 61 MPH in what I thought was a 65 MPH zone; in the ensuing years, the same trap hasn't changed materially.
