Hwy 35 going east into Angleton from West Columbia

Angleton, TexasFeb 18, 20112 Comments

This area is the biggest drop in speed, 60 to 45 mph, in the shortest time of any entrance into the city, about 100 yards. You’re coming into town and see the 288 bridge ahead so you are going to slow down anyway. At the median by the Buckey’s Store a police cruiser waits to fill the city’s coffers.

Hwy 35 going east into angleton from west columbia is definitely a speed trap. Even if you aren't speeding, the police officer that sits at the chevron will stop you for speeding anyway using the excuse of the 60-45...I was coming in from baycity one night with 2 people in the vehicle with me. I was not speeding...As I entered angleton I came to the stop light and stopped as the light was red at the overpass.. I saw the cop car at the chevron..when the light turned green I continued on hwy 35 and as I approached the school by bates park the cop stopped me and stated I was speeding ...to make a long story short, I was found guilty at the police dept. and given a 15 dollar fine..since I wasn't guilty I took the issue to the big courthouse and the case kept being postponed until my witness's could no longer take off from work so the bottom line is even if your innocent, the jury won't believe you against a dirty cop in uniform..you might want to carry a recorder in your car and record everything if you get stopped...

You should've subpoenaed the officers video to court, that would've had the violation, and the audio of the conversation between you and him.
