Hwy 395 South from S. town limits to about 5 miles from New Pine Creek

10 mile section of rural Hwy 395 dropped from 55 to 45 mph for no apparent reason other than to trap unwary drivers by angering them into lack of patience and caution after several miles of deserted road and no apparent reason for the stupid 45 mph limit. Identical sections north of town are 55 mph. Not regularly manned due to tight budgets and low state police staffing but tickets are stiff if you get caught. They LOVE truckers!

Comments:
This "speed trap" no longer exists. It has been gone for about 5 years now. Locals really complained about it but it was put in primarily at the request of ODOT due to work they were doing along the stretch. Problem is that many truckers, assuming a "hick" town in the middle of the boondocks, paid scant attention to the signs and barreled on...to their great disappointment. We have all new, young OSP officers now and they are Very efficient, especially with apprehending dope "mules" who have the same attitude about Lakeview as some of the truckers. I am nearly a 20 year resident and have to say Law Enforcement in Lake County and Lakeview is excellent, but very fair. General tolerance in fair weather with a clear road is 5-9 mph over. In all that time I have never known of a purposeful speed trap set-up. Yes I have got a couple of speeding tickets in my time here, but I deserved them!
