Hwy 411 N

Englewood, TennesseeDec 19, 20111 Comments

My experience was exactly the same as many of the comments mentioned here. I was traveling northbound and simply didn’t see the 40 mph sign. I still had the cruise set for the 55 zone. The officer took his sweet time in writing the ticket.

Definitely a speed trap. $180 is ridiculous for this offense. It was a 4-lane road with no development. The 55mph zone started again within 1/4 of a mile from where I was pulled over.

I will never travel through Englewood again and will encourage everyone I know to avoid that area at all cost.

Comments:
My experience was again, exactly the same... I was stopped but 100 yards from the 55 MPH zone going north. $50 fine plus $130 court cost. To apply for a defensive driver course to keep the ticket from being on your record, the judge has to approve it, but will not consider it until your court date. If approved, they drop the $50 fine but still charge the $130 court cost. You can fax or email the court clerk she says she will give the note to the judge. Not that I don't trust a town with a known speed trap, but I would prefer to request the driver course in person. And like the gentleman that listed above, I will not travel thru Englewood, Tn. again other than my court date. And I will not even contribute to their tax revenue by purchasing food or fuel while in Englewood. My suggestion is to get back on I-75 and bypass it entirely.
