Hwy 52 Road near Left yielding turn Crossing

Society Hill, South CarolinaJul 02, 20083 Comments

Officer hiding in church parking lot in un-marked white convertible. It was Sunday morning at 10:30 am and church lot was packed. No traffic. Cruise control set at 35 mph on Toyota Prius. Hit brake before yielding left turn on Hwy 52 north bound. Officer pulled us over 1/2 mile north on Hwy 52. Said we were driving 53 in a 35. I questioned officer. Officer Crowley said the 53 reading was still on his radar gun. I asked to see it and he said no, got nervous. I asked why and he said he didnt have to. I asked when the radar gun was last calibrated and he said this year. I asked for exact date and Crowley couldnt provide. Officer Crowley lied and gave us a ticket for driving through Society Hill with out of state tags. We are fighting this ticket.

Local Society Hill cop sits in a silver patrol car useually facing North on 52 and clocks you as the speed limit drops from 55 to 45. He's quick to pounce and can be found there at anytime every day.

I had the misfortune of meeting "Officer" Crowley as well! Received about the same response from him too. At the very most, I was doing 40 - but there is NO WAY I was doing the 54 he supposedly clocked me at.

I also recently got to meet Office Crowley on Hwy 52 who told me I was going 61 in a 35. Lie!!! In fact, I was travelling behind another vehicle going the speed limit. When I told him this, he got agitated, told me there was no other vehicle and offered to give me a ticket with no points for not having my vehicle registration (even though I showed this to him) at the cost of $237.50 (which he wrote in). Who knows what the actual ticket costs, but he "did me a favor" as I "could have gotten a speeding ticket, reckless driving and been arrested". Nice way of generating fees for this small town. Anyone out there fight this injustice??
