Hwy 55 from Donnelly to McCall

Donnelly, IdahoApr 06, 20104 Comments

This area is crawling with too many cops with little to do and no donut shops. You must crawl through areas with no homes or driveways at a ridiculous speed and cops are hiding at the side of road. It’s set up to give tickets because of the ridiculous speed limit.

Comments:
Hwy 55 is 65mph from Donnelly to Lake Fork where it drops to 45 for about a hundred yards through "town", then goes back up to 55 until you reach McCall 5 minutes later.

You may think its a "Speed Trap". But the roads going into town, Like any town drops to "25 mile an hour speed limit" .. Maybe if you respected the law, it wouldn't be a speed trap.. The signs are very clear .. . I've almost been hit more than once, By someone speeding through our town.. And it is Our Town you are driving through with respect.. How do you drive in your own town? Respectfully ? 25?

I drive through this section several times a month, and you better obey the unreasonable speed limits. The Valley County Sheriff's Department loves to ticket unsuspecting motorists. Even if you think 25 is a reasonable speed through Donnelly, which is not much more than a wide spot in the road, the extent of the posted limits is excessive. Why the limit is 35 and 45 through what are essentially cow pastures is beyond me if not to entrap the unsuspecting driver.

Definately-Lake Fork be especially careful. A cop will sit in front of the increased speed sign of 45 mph, and nail you for accelerating towards it. The law is that you can't begin to accelerate when approaching the sign but passing it. Reasonable cops would not harass you like that so mjost gradually increase their speed unwittingly. I just got burned that way and have been driving in Idaho since 1978-these cops along here are not reasonable, they are just out to get your money-and this one was a state trooper.
