Hwy 59

Jay, OklahomaSep 29, 20023 Comments

The speed limit on the north side of town drops suddenly from 65 mph to 45 mph and the officers set in the middle of parking lots along the road running radar. Also an unusual number of out of state vehicles get pulled over.

Comments:
The speed limit actually drops to 55 for two miles before it changes to 45 and is posted with speed limit signs. One might want to pay closer attention next time.

The speed limit drops from 55 to 45 as you come into town and well past the city limits signs. It is NOT a speed trap. During school hours, it drops to 35 about 1/2 mile down the road, so the 45 mph limit should be enforced.

I think what the poster was getting at is this: It is a well improved and multiple lane road going into town. However, if you miss the continual signs going from 65 to 55 to 45 to 35 to 25 (along this perfect, improved multiple lane road) you will be subject to a ticket. It should be a constant speed up until the school zone area...or one reduction approaching the school zone.....say, from 65 to 45, the SCHOOL ZONE speed.
