Hwy 59 in Sugar Land City Limits

Sugar Land, TexasJul 06, 20030 Comments

Sugar Land motorcycle cops have gotten in on the LIDAR game. The speed limit is ridiculous–55 mph for a recently widened highway. Traffic routinely goes well into the 70s or even more (Honestly, people ought to go about 65-70 but Houstonians are always in a hurry and on a mission when they drive!!). Anyway, they’ll get you ON THE FREEWAY. They sit over rises so you can’t see until it’s too late. Radar detector won’t help, except for some of the regular SLPD cars that also run radar in the same area. Don’t think you have to be exiting or on the access road. They do run the freeway. Watch your step from 10am until 4pm and again after 630pm. In other words, when traffic lightens up a little. Weekends anytime are a possibility, too, but I don’t often come into town on the weekends–so I can’t vouch for that entirely.
