Hwy 62 & Freeman

Berryville & Carroll County deputies get free coffee at the Exxon station on the north west side. So at night it can be full of cops. Berryville police sit at the oil change place on the south west side.

Coming into town from the west they sit by the propane dealer checking radar as the speed drops coming into the city. They also have been know to give tickets to those leaving the city in the same area who get up to 55 before the end of the city limits.

After midnight you best stop completely at every little stop sign in the poorly lit residential areas. They randomly hide in the dark among the parked cars along the street just to pick off rolling stops.

Comments:
This police officer, who used to do all of the things spelled out in this article, has since stepped down. Not only would he hide in the dark to watch stop signs for rolling stops (in the middle of the night), but he also made the mistake of ticketing a prominent public figure for the same. He would tell people that he caught them on radar, when the truth was that he was only a reserve, and was not allowed to use radar. Oops. Again, the poor guy was only a reserve officer without a job, and likely needed to feel like he was helping somehow. It was kind of pitiful and sad to watch; however, this fellow's poor judgment is no longer a threat. Perhaps now our local law officers can go back to looking sharp, and doing their job in a way that isn't a blight on the city.
