Hwy 70 south of Gallaway

I was pulled over for speeding on Hwy 70 outside of Gallaway Tn. I saw the one sign in the town of Gallaway for 45mph which I observed. I was 5 to 6 miles out of Gallaway when I was pulled over for speeding. The officer told me the speed limit was 45 mph. I ask where the sign was. He did not answer my question. I was informed that my speed was 55 mph in a 45 mph limit. I was almost to the other the town when I was pulled over. There is no 45 speed limit sign except when you enter Gallaway. The ticket cost 160 dollars. Be careful when passing through…Or not..they can pick and choose whom they ticket.

Comments:
Gallaway Tennessee as noted by other I received a ticket. But I was going 44 mph in what the police officer said was a 30 mph zone. He was unable to tell me where the sign was. I then at a later date a few weeks later traveled up and down the road and looked at all of the signs - and there were a number of them - all said 45 Mph. None said 30. I had already paid the ticket. The problem is I live about two hours away and special trip to the courthouse in Gallaway would have been a burden. BUt I would have done it, that is made the trip, if I had the knowledge there there were no 30 mph signs. And quite frankly it seems unnecessary to even have a 45 mph sign on a highway going through this small town. I must say I am perplexed by why the police are doing this. But I think one could say this is a speed trap - no question - but I wonder if it is more than that - a false accusation - a ticket based on a speed limit that is not even posted.
