Hwy 74 coming out of town

Morrison, ColoradoJul 13, 20151 Comments

As you go west up the hill out of town on Hwy 74 there is a speed trap right before Red Rocks entrance. 25 mph is totally ridiculous on that stretch. There are no buildings or pedestrian crossings. Speed limit should realistically be at least 40. They got me going 41 in a 25. $135 ticket. They are making a killing by gouging people for no reason so beware!

Comments:
I promised all the merchants, gas stations and restaurant managers in this 4-block town that I would never spend a penny there the rest of my life. And I haven't! Got the same ticket at this speed trap 5 years ago. If I have to drive through Morrison to get to Evergreen, I always downshift my automatic transmission to 2nd gear, and creep through town at 15 mph, letting others letting others pass me by. In the last couple of months, I have noticed speed traps all over Lakewood. Got a ticket yesterday coming down a hill going south on Sheridan, 6 blocks south of Alameda, going 50 in a 35 mph zone with no stop signs for 15 blocks. Definitely a speed trap. I don't feel safe driving in Denver or Lakewood anymore. Cops and apartment developers have made it unlivable. After 20 years here, I'm ready to move out of state, and have made several trips looking at real estate. It's not the same Denver anymore I used to love.
