Hwy 78, between Augusta and Charleston

Blackville, South CarolinaJul 15, 20021 Comments

On the Augusta side of town, they will sit and trap people within 100 feet of the speed limit change sign. Officer stated speed I was driving, then the ticket said something higher. The fine for 54 in a 35 is $150. My advice is to avoid all towns on Hwy 78 as they are all in on revenue through speed traps, etc. The businesses in the small towns want more people to pass through, but then the local police are so aggressive I’ll never return. If you are travelling to Charleston, just take I20 to Columbia and then I26 to Charleston. It is 60 miles farther, but at 70mph,it will work out the same timewise and be $150 cheaper.

Comments:
Are you kidding? ALL of the little towns, Bamberg, Blackville, Windsor, St. George, and all through highway 78 from Augusta to Charleston and even highway 61 from highway 78 to Charleston is always laden heavily with cops and hidden cars where sometimes you will find one just around a hidden spot or parked amongst other cars.
