Hwy 97A

Speed trap through Entiat especially near the Texaco Station.

Comments:
When a highway runs through a small town, there are always conflicts between safety of community members and desire for speed from those passing through. The speed limit is necessarily lower through a town because of increased ingress and egress (lots of driveways) and pedestrian traffic. US 97A through the City of Entiat is an alternate route; the main highway is on the other side of the river, and offers higher speeds. It should also be noted that because the City of Entiat has no police force, all traffic citations are issued by either the Chelan County Sheriff's Department or the Washington State Patrol. Those entities keep all the revenue they generate. No monies from traffic citations ever find their way into the City of Entiat's coffers. All that to say that those of us in Entiat would prefer that you not speed through our community. However, there is nothing we can do about it one way or another.
