I-16 (all of it)

Macon, GeorgiaMay 01, 20011 Comments

I-16 is one of the most boring stretches of road in America, flat with almost nothing but pines trees and farms. It’s not very heavily traveled and you can be lulled into a false sense of security. If you let your speed get away from you, be assured there will be a cop sooner or later to stop you. State Patrol, county sheriffs and a few podunk municipalities all work this highway. They can get you from a stationary position or coming at you with radar from the opposite lane. State Patrol occasionally uses laser.

Comments:
I-16 from Macon at mile marker 3 to mile marker 42 (eastbound) , the first 12 miles is Bibb county, (Macon) this area has alot of police up to mile marker 6. They sit and wait for you to come around the curve. You are in a 55 zone but they are sitting in a 65 zone. So which is it? Does it turn to 65 when you can read the sign or does a person have to pass the sign before it becomes a 65 zone? This is why so many tickets are written in this area. At mile marker 12 the county changes to Twiggs, which becomes 70 mph. Twiggs will pull you over at 76 mph and the fines are heavy. Travelling west on I-16 coming into Macon, the police will sitting in the middle in a 55 zone. When you see them you think you are in the 65 zone. The 55 zone signs are posted where they are sitting. Again, it comes to, where does the zone change from 65 to 55. When you see the sign or when you pass the sign. YES THIS IS A SPEED TRAP
