I-24 South of Nashville through Rutherford County

There are more tickets written in Rutherford County than any other county in the state. The posted speed limit is 70 mph, however it is a straight and well-maintained road, and everyone easily travels 80, 85, 90 and some faster.

This area of the Interstate 24 is also patrolled by Rutherford County ICE. They drive unmarked white Tahoes with blacked out glass. They will profile anyone of color or anyone they suspect that might be carring/transporting drugs. They will ask you if they can search your car/truck and regardless of the answer will pull everything out of your car and let the dogs sniff it over. This is a lot more than a "Speed trap."

Not sure about the "anyone of color". But, anyone they suspect of transporting drugs,ICE and unmarked Tahoes are all true statements. I usually see mostly pick-up trucks pulled personally.

The Rutherford County ICE are some real characters. I live just south of Rutherford county and travel I-24 through this area daily. We call them the "cocaine cowboys" and they have been accused with planting false evidence in vehicles as well, rumors of coarse. Regardless, they are bad about stripping vehicles on the shoulder. Beware of these guys, they are in pursuit of commission.
