I-480 and I-71
There are devices along both highways that emit radar signals intermitantly. They are mounted on the corners (mostly R/H) of overhead road signs. You can see small solar panels that provide power, They are meant to set off radar detectors and frustrate motorists who use them. It’s a "Cat and Mouse" game to lighten your wallet folks.

Those aren't speed radar detectors. Although they may set off a radar detector, they're traffic volume sensors that work in conjunction with the state's ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) to determine traffic volume and flow. If you've ever looked at one of those online road maps and seen highways colored green, yellow or red, that's what's being used to determine the color superimposed on them.
